Dear HMS Families,

Welcome to the 2025–26 school year at École H.S. Grenda Middle School!

I am proud to serve as principal of this incredible school community. Lake Country continues to be a place filled with wonderful students, a dedicated and caring staff, and incredibly supportive families. I feel truly fortunate to be part of this vibrant and growing school community.

I’m also grateful to work alongside our trusted vice principal, Tonia MacGregor. Together, we are excited to welcome all new and returning students and families. We look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and getting to know those who are new to HMS. It’s going to be a fantastic year of learning, growth, and connection.

This year, we are pleased to welcome some new staff members to our team. We are confident that their energy and expertise will further enrich our school community. Our staff remains committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and purpose.

The district theme for the 2025–26 school year is Learner Agency—the capacity of individuals to have the power and resources to fulfill their potential. At HMS, we are dedicated to empowering students to take ownership of their learning, make meaningful choices, and develop the confidence to pursue their goals. We believe that when students are active participants in their education, they thrive.

We continue to value our strong connections with our partner schools—Davidson Road Elementary, Oyama Traditional School, Peter Greer Elementary, and George Elliot Secondary School. These relationships help ensure a smooth and supportive transitions for all students in our community.

We’re also excited to welcome back our amazing Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Their support plays a vital role in enhancing the educational and social experiences of our students. We encourage all parents to learn more about the PAC by visiting the PAC section of our school’s website.

As always, we will keep families informed through our weekly email newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me by phone or email if you ever have questions, ideas, or simply want to connect.

Here’s to a year filled with curiosity, creativity, and community.

All the best,

Rob Aviani
